We'd like to take a minute to clear a few things up. Sometimes, life in the highrises gets a bad rap, and people are a little trepidatious to preference being an RA there. We think that's a big mistake.
If you're just making a decision based on the facilities, then the highrises are going to have a tough time competing with the suites and apartments on the North side of campus. But being an RA is about so much more than what your room looks like.
In fact, our highrises tend to have the strongest sense of community of any of our campus facilities. So if your motivation for being an RA is to build strong, lasting relationships with residents, the South side of campus offers one of the best environments for making those connections.
It's a special challenge to work in the highrises. It takes a strong desire to connect with people and an appreciation for the role programming and relationship-building play in the college experience. You'll be a key resource as your residents learn both to navigate UNCC and process the many challenges inherent in this phase of life.
